Promote Good Nutrition Program

Aims to improve the nutrition knowledge, attitudes and practices of families to increase demands for adequate, nutritious and safe food

  • Community-based promotion of Infant and Young Child Feeding - Involves training on Infant and Young Child Feeding and Pabasa sa Nutrisyon for national and local implementers, training on lactation management for hospital-based implementers, nutrition counselling for pregnant and lactating mothers and nutrition education classes
  • Multi-media campaign on the Nutritional Guidelines for Filipinos - Includes production and distribution of IEC materials, airing of nutrition plugs and segments on national and local TV and radio stations and conduct of special events

Plant Audit and Inspection

This is a part of the Quality Assurance Program wherein dairy processing plants are checked and inspected as to their adherence to the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

It ensures that the local milk and milk products made available for consumers are safe and hygienically processed/produced.

A satisfactory compliance mark obtained by the processing plant during an audit gives them confidence in obtaining their license to operate (LTO) from Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as well as its renewal.

2005 to present National Dairy Authority (NDA)
Milk Quality Assurance Program

Ensures quality control through quality-based milk payment, regular laboratory tests of raw milk and finished products and plant audit. The Central Milk Quality Laboratory monitors the quality of milk and milk products that are being marketed by NDA- assisted cooperatives especially for the Milk Feeding Program as to its conformity to the set quality standards based on Original Pilipino Milk (OPM) and or BFAD.

Food and Nutrition Researches Towards Policy Development

The Food and Nutrition Research Institute of the Department of Science and Technology’s (FNRI-DOST) continuously invests on linking research and development and policy development. The significance of bringing the research results to action is imperative as we face the challenge of addressing the persistent problem of malnutrition among the vulnerable groups.

The goal is to open opportunities for the FNRI researches to continuously reach the national and local political stakeholders and provide basis for the wider use of evidence-based data in policy making.

The project continuously develops policy statements and policy memo on different areas and aspects of nutrition for use by local and national policy makers as basis for crafting bills, resolutions and for advocacy.
